Each and every year, more than one thousand Romanian children die after only a few days of life. In Romania, one out of ten newborn babies comes to this world prematurely. The shortage of medical staff and lack of equipment leads to real tragedies. Within seconds, the act of giving birth can turn into a life-and-death situation, and infants lose the battle for life if left unattended. According to recent statistics, Romania has the highest infant mortality rate in the European Union after Bulgaria.
