Sorin Oprescu made comments on bribe-taking just a few hours prior to his arrest. "We're not descendats of thieves and punks, Ma'am. Not all of us, anyway!" This is what the Mayor of Bucharest told one of our colleagues in an interview, in which he was also keen on emphasising that not all Public Administration staff are corrupt. In Oprescu's opinion, the scales of Lady Justice are not always well-balanced.
